Sherill, ex-Minister to the Argentine, suggested that if the United. Ststes intervened in Mexico, the other South American Republics aboyld act in concert. Other sneakers urged tho abandonment of the Monroe Doctrine policy &n& the adoption of 4 system pf Pan-American'defo-ace.' Mr John Hays Hammond declared ho would not invest a single cent abroad whilo Mr Bryan was Secretary of State. Anyone who made foreign investment* now was lacking in sense. Any nation falling to protect its citizens and investors was unworthy of %h& name of •nation.
