(PRESS ASSOCIATION TELECRAM.) WELLINGTON, November 24. The following is tlie High Commissioner's cable, dated London, November 22nd. (Note — Quotations, unless otherwise specified, are tho average market prices on spot):— Mutton—The market is firm. No supplies of Canterbury are on hand, with the result that "there is a better demand for North Island at 4Jd. Lamb—The market is firm, with no change in prices.

Beef—The market is firm with no change in prices. Chilled hinds ofd. fores 3 11-16 d.

Butter—The market is quiet, but steady, with a nood 'demand. Danish, 129s to 131s; New Zealand, 124s to 1265; Australian, 116s to 1225; Argentine, 116s to 120s f Siberian, 108s to 112s. The present orice for unsalted is 2s lower than for salted.

Cheese—The market is quiet, but firm, with a fair demand. Canadian, white. 65s to 665, coloured, 66s to 675; New Zealand, white, 645, coloured, 64s to 655.

Hemp—The Manila market is quiet, with a tendency in favour of buyers. Philippine quotations are also easier. Fair current Manila £30, forward shipment £29 10s. The output from Manila for tho week was 20,000 bales. Tho New Zealand market opened dull, but at the close there was a better demand for forward shipment. Good to fair grade-£2B 5s to £28 IOp: fair grade £25 10s to £25 15s, according to position. .

Sisal —Great uncertainty, exists on account of the Mexican trouble. Present quotations aro equal to ;£27 to £28 c.i.f. in Europe, according to quality. Cocksfoot Seed—There is more enquiry by Continental shippers and prices are consequently' firmer. New Zealand 51s 6d. -

Beans —Prices are firmer, and 37s per 5041b. is now asked for New Zealand beans f.a.q., new crop. English beans are selling at lower prices.

Wool —The market for tops continues dull, and prices have slightly declined for all grades during, this week.

Kauri Gum —The market is firm, 160 packages wore offered, and eight sold. Tho stock at tho end of October was 439 tons. Dark brown selected rescraged £7 10s to £9: dark brown 2 scra_ed, 95s to 120s. Prices for other grades unchanged.
