STRIKE LEADERS AND THEIR DUPES.
TO THE KDITOB OF "iHB PKBSS." Sir, —In ono of your issues it is reported that a young man, a striker in ; Lyttelton, eaid, "That he and his mates were welleupplied with funds, and prepared to stay out for three months, if necessary.' , Quito so, but is he and his j mates willing to lose their positions al- ; together, for this is what it amounts to. Many of the men now registering under ■ the Arbitration Act are coming to stay, and stay they will, there is nothing and others will never go back. ■"Why ■& it that the strikers are so deluded by their head-strong leaders Are these leaders.. Semplo, Rickey, Young, and others going; without pay during the strike? I t.iink not. Will Semple lose his lovely house on the West Coast through the strike? I think not. But, I regret to feel that many of the ill-advised rank and filo will go hungry, aid even perhaps lose their.homes. The right to work belongs to everyone, and in England there has been a Bill under discussion with the above title, but the Federation leaders are without pity, absolutely without compassion, where fellow-workers are concerned; according to them no one has the right to work except under their directions. If the Federation had a chanco of going back in power, God help the average working man: it would be worse for him than the employers. Every right-thinking worker who wants to be allowed to work should join iho Union tinder the Arbitration Act. The employers welcome Labour Unions now, the day has gone past when they objected to unions, but they want to feel that contracts and agreements made will be kept, and this, is'what they are now establishing arbitration-• unions for. All those who tako the sido oi tho Red Feds now, necessarily declare themselves' in favour of Anarchy with a big A. —Yours, etc. LOOKER ON.
