IN THE FARMERS' INTERESTS
CONSTABULARY CORPS BEING FORMED. (aPECIAL TO "TDB PRESS.") AUCKLAND, November 22. The desirability of forming a farmers' constabulary corps, to be organised and controlled by the New Zealand Farmers' Union, was affirmed last night at a meeting of officers of tho mounted farmers camp in the outer domain. The gathering was presided over by the provincial president of the Farmers' Union (Major Lusk), and the proposal was discussed with considerable enthusiasm. The idea would appear to be to form an organisation somewhat similar to that of the commandoes which have figured so prominently in South Africa, with a commander in each district. These men, it is suggested, should tako part in manoeuvres from time to time, and hold tliemselves in readiness to assemble promptly in cases of emergency, to be—sworn in for service as special constables.
