FRICTION BETWEEN MINISTERS

AMERICA RESENTS PRESENCE OF BRITISH WARSHIPS. (Received November 23rd, 5.5 p.m.) WASHINGTON, November 23. Friction is apparent between the American and British Ministers at Mexico city. Sir Lionel Carden requested the despatch of British warships to Mexican waters, urging that the danger to foreigners was continually increasing, and he doubted tho ability of American warships to suppress, risings.

Wheu Mr Bryan heard of the British Minister's move, he represented to Sir Cecil Spring-Rice that the United States would regard tho appearance of a British squadron as undesirable.

It is now understood that British warships are proceeding to Tampico or other gulf ports.
