At a reception held at Chapultapec, Huerfca effusively greeted Mr O'Shaughnessy, the American Envoy to Mexico, and embraced him. After a moment's conversation he raised his glass and asked the diplomats to drink the health of the American Republic.
There arc twenty-two warships at Vera Cruz; sixteen American cruisers, the German cruisers Vineta, Hertha, and Bremen, the French cruiser Conde, and two British cruisers.
The foreign colonies in Mexico are preparing to defend themselves in the event of disturbances.
