At a meeting of the Auckland District Committee last week, the appeal of F. Hall against the decision of the Avondalo Jockey Club as ia the breeder of the filly Cnstalia was placed before the committee, who decided that they had no jurisdiction in the matter.
The Springfield Hack Racine; Club's Annual Meeting, which takes place today, promises to bo a very enjoyable fixture of the genuine isporting type. Fair sized fields are engaged, and there should ho fomo interesting racing. A train leaves Christchurch tor Springfield at 5.30 a.m.
The Corinthian, who won a double on the first day 'of the Tapanui Racing Club's Annual Meeting, is a four-year-old colt by JRonown —Coralie, by Quilt — Waiau, by Torpedo—Cascade, by Sledmere —Watenvitch. by Camden —Mermaid. He is evidently a' smart colt, and appears to have wan very comfortably on each occasion.
The name of Mr H. F. Nicoll's representative in the Now Brighton Derby was .given as Jarrah, but this should bo Tarah. a brown gelding by Advance* —Brown Empress. Mr "M." Clarice's" b k Pax, by Prince Imperial—Patchwork, and b f Losse, by Abbey Bells— Lodi, aro not eligible for the race, as they were not registered at the.time of nomination. >.
The special train which is to be despatched to Dunedin to carry r>asseiißers and horses for the Forbnry Park Trotting Club's Spring fleeting, will leave Christchurch at 8 p.m. on Wednesday next, arriving in Dunedin at G. 30 the followin.n; morning. The special train from Dnncdin to Cliristchurch will leavo at 8.50 p.m. on Saturday, the 29th inst., arriving about 7.15 a.m. on Sunday, the 30th.
