DRIVERS RESOLVE TO CEASE WORK.
DECISION OPERATES ON MONDAY.
CANTERBURY DRIVERS' . UNION MEETING.
A special summoned meeting of the Canterbury Drivers' Union was held in the Trades' Hall last evening, Mr J. l>. Frasor presiding over a large attendance of members.' It was decided that all members of the Canterbury drivers . Union cease work and refuse to cart anything whatsoever as long as, the strike lasts, the decision to take effect on Monday, the 24th inst., and that all, members of the Union asiemble at the Trades' Hall at 9 a.m. It was also decided to recommend the Strike Committee to arrange a procession on Sunday afternoon. A motion to exempt taxi-cab drivers was rejected by an overwhelming majority. A motion to exempt brewery carters failed to find a seconder. It was resolved to enter a strong protest against the imprisonment of Labour leaders by tho Massey Government, also against the action of the Employers' Federation and employers generally, in blocking all attempts made by persons wishing to settle the strike.
The meeting also deplored tho action of the Mayor in failing to carry out the unanimoiis decision of tho City Council in reference to convening a meeting of representative citizens to discuss the terms of settlement; also tho introduction of special constables.'
It was resolved to vote £30 to assist the Lyttclton Waterside Workers. Tho" meeting closed with "three cheers for solidarity and the downfall of the Massey Government."
