Mr Cbas. B. Buxton (Auckland) arrived in town yesterday.

Tho Rev. Father Creagh arrived yesterday morning from the north. Captain Hennah left last night for Wellington.

Mr L. L. Ashley of tho Bank of New Zealand staff at Woodville. has been transferred to Christchurch.

The. Eev. J. Flanagan, the wellknown missioner, came to Christ-church from the north yesterday.

The members? of the Pan-ma Exposition Commission were passengers for Wellington last night by tho Maungunui.

Mr D. W. Walker, of ChrietchurcFi, will act as judge of the pipo music competitions at the Wairarapa Caledonian Society's annual sports gathering pn New Year's Day.

Arrivals in town yesterday included : —Messrs J. Henderson (London), Geoffrey Hunter, C. R. Carr (Wellington), C. E. Andrews (Timani), Charles H. Willis (Kaikoura), S. J. Moon, and M. A. Christie.

A Crimean veteran, Mr William Neilson, late of the 2nd I>ra goons (Scots Greys) died at the Veterans' Home, Auckland, this week. in. his eighty-second year. The deceased eorved all through the Crimean. War, and in the charge of tho Heavy Brigade at Balaclava on October 25th 1854, he wae wounded.
