MR MORGAN'S WATCHES.

The late Mr Pierpont Morgan during a visit to Switzerland in 1910 bought what was described as the best collection of ancient and ornamental watches in the world for the sum of £105,000. The collection, which was the property of Horr Marfels, and consisted largely of old Geneva masterpieces, was on exhibition at the time at Nouchatel. - A Swiss syndicate had been formed with the idea of purchasing the collection so as to keep it in Switzerland, but when it learnt that the American .millionaire was bidding the matter was dropped. Now the same syndicate is trying to raise the sum among its members with the object of asking tho heirs of Mr Morgan to restore the collection to Switzerland at'cost price. If successful the syndicate will present the collection to the National Museum.
