PHANTOM WEALTH
A man removed to tho Emergency Hospital, San Francisco,'from a cheap lodging-house, suffering from a high fever, was found to . have twopencehalfpenny in cash on him and bonds and securities with a faeo valuo of £250.000. It was- at first believed the stranger was an eccentric millionaire who had lost his memory. When the fever left him ha was questioned. . He explained that tho stocks and bonds represented various "wild cat" schemes. "I paid £16 for the lot and got bitten," he said. "Anybody can nave thorn for £4. Or I might take less."
