LEESTON.
Three weeks having elapsed since the previous stock sale at Leeston, there was naturally a larger entry of stock than usual at yesterday's market, and a fairly satisfactory all-round sale resulted. Tho entries included 108 fat pigs, 177 stores, 85 head of cattle, and several lines of sheep (mostly ewes and lambs), nearly all of which were in the wool. Tho brighter outlook for feed improved tho market for store stock to tome extent, while the demand for fat sheep and cattlo for homo consumption was sufficient to maintain recent values. Fat pigs showed no appreciable change in values, the market remaining rather dull, but stores sold fairly well, rather better than at the previous sale. The majority of the cattlo consisted of bulls of various ages, which were much too numerous for local requirements, while many of them were not of a very desirable class, and consequently a few of them were passed. Good dairy cattle were few in numbers, and those that were penned found buyers at good prices. The sheep sales included: —Fat owes 16s 5d to 18s, fat wethers 15s, 18 ewes and 29 Jaubs (wcll-firown) 16s, 100 ewes and 115 lambs (-well-grown) 14s lOd, 50 merino ewes and 45 lambs 9e.
Bacon nigs made 53s to 735, equal to 5Jd por lb. choppers 80s to 87s, porkers from 9s Gd. equal to 6d per lb, large stores 24s 6d to 41s. weaners from 10s. Fat cows realised £6 to £8, springers £4 7s 6d to £8 17s 6d, cows in milk £5 17s 6d, empty cows from £4 10s. yearlines (mixed sexes) £3 2s 6d to £3 19s, bulls various prices, according to quality, ranging to £6.
