(press association telegrams.) . tHOKITIKA, Novemoer 21. ~ A young man named Lawrence McOready, a resident of Ross is missing. The circumstances point to suicide. Hβ left home yesterday -after telling bis mother that his watch and money were on the table, and ho would not want them again. Search parties have co far been unsuccessful in finding any traco of him. GISBORNE, November 21. A-painful'accident happened to William l)unne, engineer at the Okitu Bacon Factory, about six miles from Gisborne, at j9 o'clock wnia morning. The staff were engaged in recharging the refrigerating system with ammonia, when the great pressure caused tho rubber connecting tube to burst and wriggle about like a gigantic snake. The iron clip at the end of wie tube struck- Dunne in the eye, lacerating tho eyeball. Medical attention was summoned, and the sufferer was conveyed to his home. The doctor is hopeful that, the man's eyesight, may be saved. ■ AUCKLAND, November 21. ■ An inquest was held this morning before Mr E. C. Cutten, S.M., concerning the death of Mary Alice Hare, who hanged herself yesterday. Dr. Bull stated that ho saw the body yesterday, and was of opinion that death had occurred several hours before. He , also thought that the act could not lurve been accidental. Tho oniy reason ho could suggest was that deceased had Ixsen worrying about her husband's state of health. From the fact that the took her life in the presence of her child, he was satisfied that her mind was unhinged at' the time. A verdict was Tetnmed in accordance with the medical testimony.
