The Lord Chief Justice, summing up in the libel action brought by Thomas Ghent, curate at St. Andrew's, Stockwell, against Fitzgerald, a Clapham police sergeant, declared that if Ghent was right, then the allegationsagainst him were either wicked fabrications, or the result of a neurotio woman's hallucinations. If the defendant Fitzgerald was right, then Ghent was a wicked, hypocritical liar of the worst description. After twice retiring the jury disagreed, and Fitzgerald "was discharged.

(PRESS ASSOCIATION TELEGRAM.* 'DUNEDIN, November 21. The Rer. Thomas Ghent, curate of St. Andrew's Church, Stockwell, mentioned in cablegrams with regard to a : libel action, 'was at one time resident in Otago, being for two yeare clergyman at Clyde. Ho made an exchange with a minister in Victoria, and left .the Dominion.
