THE GELIGNITE MYSTERY.
PRISONER REFUSED BAIL. (PBKSS ASUOCIATIOS TELEOEAM.) AUCKLAND, November 21. The old maa named Joseph Davis, aged 75 years, who was arrested yesterday afternoon in connection with tlio reported finding of gelignite at Greenlane railway station, was charged at the Police Court this morning that about Wednesday last he placed two plugs of gelignite, with detonators and fuse attached, at Greenlano station. Chief Detective McMahon asked ior a week's remand, and Mr Singer, who appeared for accused did not oppose thTapplication, but asked that bail be allowS Mr Cutten, S.M., refused bail but stated that if any exceptional circumstances arose respecting prisoner's health, further application .could bo made. Abused was «»*"£»£ condition when charged, and had to be accommodated with a chair and given water to drink.
