SMALLPOX.
THE SYDNEY EMBARGO. (By Cable.—Press Association.—Copyright.) MELBOURNE. November 20.
The Cabinet will discuss the recommendation of the conference of health officers in regard to tne lifting of the embargo on Sydney without delay.
It is anticipated that it the New Sonth Wales Government accepts the recommendation and gives satisfactory assurances to adopt stringent measures for dealing with cases in Sydney, and otherwise preventing the spread of the disease, the embargo on S>dnev will be lifted.
ißeceived November 21st, 12.30 a.m.) SYDNEY. November 20. One case of smallpox was reported in the city to-day, also a second case at Maclean. The Government has decided to accept the conditions for lifting the embargo, as teuggested by the Interstate Conference.

Replying to a question in the House whether the Government intended to remove the embargo on Sydney, and ii so what action was to be token to protect other States. Mr Groom said the report of the Interstate Conference was now bi'inij considered by the various State Governments and nothing "definite bad yet been done.
