STONEMASON'S KNIGHTHOOD.
It will be recalled that a womngman served as Lord Mayor of Carditf in 1906-7, and was knignted i>y King Edward during "the visit which bis Majesty paid to that city to open a new dock. This was Sir .William Crossman, a local labour leader, who for many years had worked in Carain as a stonemason. Sr William settled in thr> city over twenty years ago, and in the course of an interview during his Lord Mayoralty, ho said: —"1 never dreamt, as I worked at my trade, that r should live to be Lord Mayor of Cardiff, to be shaken by the hand of his Majesty the King, and to have the honour of knighthood conferred upon me.*'
