SOME LABOUR LEGISLATION CRITICISED.(fBKSS ASSOCIATION TZVBOTUM.) ■"-■■ HAWERA, November 20. •v At a meeting of '■ the .TaranaJri i*rovincial Executive of, the Fanners' Union to-day, the following resolution .was carried unanimously:—

■ "That thss executive desires to tender to the Government its hearty congratulations on the manner in which it has met a Tery grave industrial crisis and, further. Tho executive wishes to estate that,it recognises what a very difficult position the Government, and especially, the'ihon. the Minister of Justice Kae been placed -in in connexion .with, the preservation of peace.* , A motion was also passed extcemely regretting the present industrial trouble, and stating that tho executive is of opinion that some of the. Labour legislation now on the {statute Book is partly responsible for it, and considers that the law should be altered in the direction of preventing a repetition of such a crisis, and asking the Dominion Advisory Committee of the union to closely watch any Bill dealing with further industrial legislation.

A further resolution was agreed to in which the executive stated it had I always been opposed to anything in the j direction of preference to unionists, I and pointing out that industrial trou- | ble had convinced it that it was essential, to tho welfare of the primary industries and the Dominion as a whole that every labourer should have absolute freedom to work as he wished, whether he belonged to a union or not, and' that he be secured against any form of intimidation, and the executive ,hoped the Government, when introducing legislation dealing with Labour, :would bring this about. - ' A resolution of .thanks was .passed to 'Mr J.G. Wilson, Dominion President, for the Valuable services ho had rendered to-the farming community and country generally .in connexion with the present trouble.
