The shareholders of the Koss GoldSclds Eeconstracted, Ltd., have received a circular from the directors in which the latter etate that oa UuwateriDg th« Cassius -workings it was found that whiielhe drives appeared to ho intact, the old timber in the workings was »ot stablo enough, aild the drives collapsed in various places. This entailed further development work. During the past two months also there have been exceptionally heavy rains at Boss, and _, considerable quantity Of water has at tines f<_und it« **sy into the Ca-ssius workings, while slips in the Kanieri water-race tunnels and the consequent shutting off of the electrical power, necessitated the ___Bing of, the locks in the mine and a-lowing a certain amount of -water ia the Cassias workings to accumulate. "These causes hive contributed to delay in jetting; ont wash, and have -aeeewitated tho mailing cf a further call. Tbe Government has sanctioned a loan to the Company -_f £7000, secured on the Company's undertaking, on the basis of £ for £ contribution on expenditure incurred by tbe Compafcy, after the dato ths agreement was entered into with the Government. It is necessary, therefore, to mako the call to obtain the Government grant. The latest advice from the Mm© Superintendent indicates that the Cassius writings are again free of water, and that he is resuming regular mining operations immediately."
