Sir,—l received tho following letter, from which I quote, yesterday. It amused, though saddened, mc. (B. is a Lytteiton waterside worker): — "Dear Sir,—l was speaking to Mr B. after you left mc, and he said he would have to go away to get work to keep tho house going, and did I think you could get him a shearing billet.'' He would be glad. He is a very steady, hard-working, and respectable young man. I feel very sorry lor them; they are trying so hard to pay for ,™ house, which is partly paid for. Mr B.
