THE FORM OF OATH.
WHAT SPECIAL CONSTABLES UNDERTAKE. It is of interest, in view of the enrolment of special constables, to quote tho oath that each individual is called upon to subscribe to. It will be noted that tho persons sworn in tako very rosponsiblo duties. Tho text of the oath is as follows: —
"I [name of person taking tho oath! do swear that I will well and_ truly serve our Sovereign Lord the King in the office of special con-stable at Christchurch and Lytteiton. and the neighbourhood thereof, without favour or affection, malice or ill will, and that I will to the best of my power cause the peace to he kopt and preserved, and prevent all offences against the persons and properties of his Majesty's subjects, and that while I continue to hold the said office I will to the best of my skill and knowledge discharge all the duties thereof faithfully according to the law. So helo mc God."
It is intended to 6tart- drill at camp as soon as all tho mon have been got together.
