Mathildc Marches! was born at Frankfort on March 26th, 1826, an_ married in 1552 Salvatoro Marchesi, Cavalieto do Castrone, Marchcso de Rojatn, who died in 1908. 3ladame made, hor d.but as a singer in 184-1. Her pupils havo included many of the most famous women singers of tho d*»y—■ lima di Murska, Etelka Gerster, Gabriello Krous, Wilhelmine Trcmelli. GalliMario. Emma Calve, Emma Eames, Sybel .Sanderson. Melba, Emma Nevada, Blanche Marchesi, Ellen Gul-h-ranson, aud Ada Crosaley. Her headquarters in Paris have been tho Mecca of ambitious girl vocalists for years past.
The death is reported from Reefton of au old pioneer, Mr P. McOeady, \ aged 73. ">
