THE MIXING TROUBLE.
MEETING OF WESTPORT MINERS
(press association tklegram.) "WESTPORT, January 30. _A mass meeting; of miners *in the "VWistport Coal Company's employ was h<?!d at Waimangaroa to-day. About 250 men from Granity and' 20 from Domiiston were present. Mr Hawker, president of the Denniston Miners' Union, being in the chair. The- meeting wes addressed by Messrs Hawker, Scrapie (president of the Miners' Federation), Mr Colviuj M.P., and others. Tho meeting was not open to the Press, but information was given that after a lengthy discussion the following resolutions were carried unanimously.—(l) "That the Miners' Ferf- ,- ---c-ratiou Executive be asked to meet the officers of Westporb Coal Company and try to get tho company to do" away with the medical examination, and if the company fail to comply with the request, that tho Federation bo asked to arrange to get legislation, passed doinji away with tho examination" ; (2) 'That tho Granity and Denniston Mw.ical Association be requested to have the examination discontinued 1 ."
