For the garden party to be held by the Hospital Lady Visitors' Association in , the Hospital grounds to-morrow afternoon, from 2.30 o'clock till 6 o'clock, many ladies are giving every assistance The function vrill be perfectly free to ell. and, tho committee express a hope that citizens will' attend in force. There will bo doUj sweets, and afternoon tea stalls, and) the Garrison Band! will play doiring the afternoon. On Wednesday evening a concert will bo given, at. tho Church Hall, under the patronage of his Excellency the Governor and Lady Plunket, in aid of tho fund:. Tho programme is. a very attractive one. Mrs Gower Burns will sing "The King of Thule" and: "The Jewel Song" fi-om "Faust," and with Mrs PMgeon the duct, "A Flight of Clouds"; Mrs Pidgeon sings "My Harp is on the Willow Tree," a lullaby by Neodham, and in the diiot with airs Burns; Miss Allison will sing "The Children's Home" ; Miss Arrowsmith "Home I/ove," Mr March "Song of Four Seasons," by Allitsen, andi Cod. Day will give a solo. Mrs Percival Smith will play a piano solo, Liszt's "Etude in D flat." The Liedertafel Quartet will sing two part songs, and tho Vignola trio will play several instrumental selections. The accompanists will be Mrs Edgar, Miss Katie Youna, and Dr. Leslie Crooke. Already a large \ number of tickets have been disposed of, and the support promised is very encouraging. The nurses will be present at the concert, and will assist in showing the audience to their scats and in circulating programmes. Additional subscriptions received are:—Collected by Miss Thomas, 6s, in addition to £53 4s previously acknowledged; Mrs R. M. Macdonald, £5; Mr A. W. Bennett, £2 2s. After sending a cheque for £50 as I the proceeds of the matinee performance tliat ht> gave on Thursday afternoon, Mr Bland, Holt discoveriKl' that the receipts had included a sum of £3 Gβ collected by the nurses, and he forwarded a cheque foi) this sum j also, in order that his contribution might make a clear £50 without counting in the nurses' money. Tho ladies of Lyttelton started an active tativaes of tho port of Lyttelton on Friday for subscriptions in aid of tho children's ward. The Mayor of Lyttelton (Mr C. Cook), who is treasurer of the committee recently set up at Port, will bo pleased to receive any subscriptions received by the ladies. At c meeting of the Cycle Trade Association it was decid*xl to take steps to raise tho sum of £50 necessary to establish a bicycle cot in the children's ward.
