The Prime Minister left Napier last night for Gisborne.
The Hon. Dr. Findlay, Minister for Justice, accompanied by <Mr Poulton, private secretary, left for AVellington by the Mararoa last night.
Lieut.-Colonel' Head, Director of Artillery, end Mr W. Dinnie, Commis•ioner of Police, left for Wellington last night.
Mr H. Macandrew, District Engineer, New Zealand Railways, Dunedin, left for the South by tho second/ express yesterday.
Mr A. H. Turnbull arrived from AVellington by tho Mararoa yesterday morning.
The Gisborne High School Board has appointed Mr F. J. Wilkes, M.A., of Marton, first assistant master.
Mr H. H. Jackson, locomotive efrgineer, Addington, who returned a few days ago from his annual leave, went South by the second express yesterday to conduct a_ departmental enquiry. At a meeting oi the Otago Education Board yesterday, Mr Fit_gerald, one of the inspectors, who has been in the service of the Board' as teacher and inspector since its inception., and who. prior to that, was in the service of tho Provincial Executive, tendieredl his resignation. Complimentary reference was made to Mr Fitzgerald's services, and the Board decided! to accept the resignation, and grant Mr Fitzgerald six months' leave of absence from date, on full pay.
Mr Erck, the newly appointed superintendent of the Christchurch Fire Brigade, will take up his duties on Monday next.'

Constable McClinchy, who has been stationed at St. Albans for many years, left by tbe second express yesterday for AVaimate. to which town he has been transferred.
The Very Rev. Dean Carew was entertained at Greymouth on Thursday evening in the Town Hall, when he was presented with an illuminated address and a purso containing one hundred sovereigns, in commemoration of his having completed 25 years' ministration in trie Greymouth parish. _*>- sides visiting clergy, leading public citizens took part, and the_ congratulations (says a Press Association message) were most cordial. The Rev. Father O'Connell. on behalf of his Lordship Bishop Grimes, conferred the honour on- the Dean of Dean of AVestland. Tho Mayor, the Hon A. R. Guinness, and representative citizens delivered complimentary speeches. The hall whs -crowded with all sections of the community, and was a worthy testimony to a man who has done faithful work.
