MID CANTERBURY.
After ideal harvest weather at Ashburton on Thursday heavy rain set in again early yesterday morning. This will cause another serious check, and give farmer- cause for very grave anxiety. Many of them have got a part of "th«ir oat crops in stack, but there is a very wido area of land! on which the stocks have been, standing for a considerable lime, and the present rain will havo a tendency to discolour the grain. There is a considerable area of wheat in. stook, andi a very wido area ready for tlie rcflper. Shearing is being greatly delayed, and tho shearers are yetting impatient for tlie various cuts out in order that they may be free to go harvesting. Ono fiookmaster in the Mount Somers district has. still 4000 to sliear, notwithstanding that ho started nearly six weeks _t*o. So far thero has been no serious trouble at any of tho sheds, though the men have had a lot of broken time.
