PROSPECTS IN THE DUNSANDEL DISTRICT.
Our Dunsandcl corres-xmdent wrote on Thursday:—Tho last few days havo again been splendid liarvest days, and reapers are going full swine, stook threshing is progi—voing la.vourubiy, ami ail tue available hand- are now employed. Taking the crop throughout the Dmisaudel district, a good yield may bo expected, a largo area being in oats this year. Taking the crops north of tho railway, commencing with Mr J. T. Wright, I may cay ho has some splendid crops of wheat and oats. Barley grown on this farm waa infested with tho caterpillar, which no doubt will reduce the yield. Splendid crops are noticed on the farms of Messrs Kime, R. Johnston, J. .Lockhend, J. Gammel, X. Brown, and D. VV cstenra, most of tho oats being reaped. Towards D-unsandei good crops are seen on 'Mr J. Burgess's farm. Probably the best crop of Danish oats in the district is on Mr C. Wright's farm. This crop should yield well on to 80 •bushels. A crop of barley threshed on the sumo farm yielded 59 bushels. Along the river bank Messrs H. F. Wright, Walker Bros., and P. LiX, havo all splendid crops, barley yielding uip to 47 bushels. Along the railway good crops of wheat are seen on Messrs MoLaehlan Bros.', Bailock's Etstate, and T. W. Johnston's, tho last-men-tioned having some remarkably nice paddocks of Tuscan -wheat, which is in stook, one paddock being estimated to yield 43 bushels. There are also two nice paddocks of oats. Mr G. Sheat has some nice even crops of oats, which should yield well. He has a largo area, under oats. Messrs Skinner and White, H. Bilbrough. and J. Gilbert, all havo good crops. Towards Killinchy a few straw stacks- are putting in their appearance, mostly barley nnd oats. Ono yield of 3-3 bushels of barley, and another of 60 of oats', aro recorded so far. Grass seed is mostly threshed, a lot of seed being lost through the weather conditions, owing to its having to bo handled so often.. Xo sales of grass eeod or oats, hare taken place ns yet. Owing to the low pirice ruling farmers seem inclined to hord a little longer.
