KAIAPOI BOROUGH COUNCIL
The usual meeting of the Kaiapoi Borough Council on Tuesday was attended) by the Mayor (Mr Daly), Cre. Eagle, Bugg, Parnham, Midgley, Pearce, and Keetky. The -Mayor reported an interview with Sir Joseph Ward, who eaid the railway etation would be proceeded with, and he would be pleased to lay the foundation stone of the new post and telegraph office in April. A letter from Mr Job Osborne, contractor for the deep well at the baths, stated that from 400 ft the cost of sinking was 12s per foot, or 30s per day. It was decided to confer with Mr Osborne. Second-hand dealers' licenses were granted J- J. Wilkinson, R. Ross, and W. McKaekell. The receipts were £1 17b 9d, and the present overdraft was JBllv* Os 9d. Accounts amounting to £24 0s 8d were passed for payment. It. was stated the present cost of deep well was £190, and pipes for drainage of bath had been bought from the Lyttelton Borough at a dost of £29 Bs.
