ADDINGTON SALEYARDS.

(BY OUR COIIMERCIAL EDITOR.) There was a fair yarding of stock, but the attendance wae not large. There Was an entry of 14,278 store sheep, chiefly wethers and lambs, and a few lines of biecding ewee. The attendance of buyers was limited, but an Ashburton farmer was a large operator in wethers, and secured several thousand, though a considerable proportion of the entry was passed, nt auction:, a minibsr of lines were afterwards sold privately, and late prices were on the whole well maintained for all elapses- The principal eales at auction were 95 lambs 9s lid, 245 ab 9s Bd, 202 at 8s Bo\ 101 at 5s 9d; 50 four-tooth wethers 14s 6d, 215 at 14s 3d, 500 at 13s 9d, 2340 from the North Mand 13s 9d; 145 at 13s 9d; 270 twotooth wethers 13s 4d, 83 at 13s 3d, 106 at 12s lOd, 84 at Kb 6d, and 90 afc 10s sd; 361 two-tooth wethers and , ewes 12s 6d; 208 ewes, mixed ages, 14s 8d; 285 two-tootha 14s 7d; 242 at 14a 6d, 147 at 13s 9d; 146 snun-d-mouth 8s 6d, 198 sound-mouth merino ewes 6s 7d.

The number of fat lambs penned was 1674, and the quality was very mixed, a proportion being very prime freezers, and there were many lines unfinished that were only forward stores. Ihere was practically no 'alteration in prices for ireczere from last week, best sorts making 14s to 15s 2d, a few extra 15s 8d to 17s> 3d, and lighter weights 12e 64. to 15s" 6d. The entry of fat cattle was very small, only 85 head being penned, and there was a sharp rise in prices in consequence. A line o? eight steers from Mr G. G. Holmes, Pigeon Bay, made £10 17a 6d to £12 7s 6d, othsr steers £7 8a to £10 se, heifers £6 to £8 17s 6d, and sows £5 2s 6d to £8 7s 6d, and one extra £10 7s 6d, equal to 27s to 30s per 1001b. A small, mixed entry of store cattle sold fairly well, at frhs following rates: —Yearlings 32b to £2 ss, fifteen to cightoenmonths £3 17s to £1 Is 6d, two-year steers £4 14?. dairy cows 30s to £4 5?. Dairy cows sold at £4 10s to £9 17s 6d.

A small yarding of pigs made last week's rales for fats, while stores were eomewhnt easier. Baconers brought 453 to 655», er ( ual to 5d per lb, porkera 30s to 455, equal to s|d to 6d' per lb large stores 22s 6d to 30s. medium 16s to 20s, suckers and wcaners 10s to 15s.
