COSTUME AT UNIVERSITY EXAMINATIONS.
A "SWEATER" OBJECTED TO.' • In the opinion of the New Zealand X7nK * versity authorities, toe garment qraalfy known as a "sweater ,, is an article of ooh tume unsuitable for wear by a student titting for a University examination. The following statement occurred in titf report of the Chancellor, read to the Senate yesterday:—"The question of! costume at University examination* sometimee arises; anj( when a case occurs of an obviously unsuitable and improper*oostume, it is very difficult to d«*dt bow far disciplinary authority can or should be stretched in dealing with it Th* matter had been brought to an issue by aa incident of the recent November firamm*tions, when a candidate appeared in whal , a commonly called a "sweater," and was informed by the Supervisor that it «H ' -*A\ uot a proper costume, and most not be i m used again.
