PRESENTATION TO THE PREMIER.

AUCKLAND, February 16. This afternoon the Premier was presented with a purse of sovereigns subscribed by the citizens of Auckland prior to his departure for the "Coronation celebrations in London. A sum of £629 in a casket was banded over at the Municipal Chambers by the Mayor, 'Mr Alfred Kidd, M.H.R. Mr Seddbn, in reply, touched upon the comments of tha English newspapers regarding the testimonial The New Zealand papers l he said, did not say the extracts they published were from pro-Boer papers, and coming from that quarter he looked upon the remarks as praise.
