MATTER BEFORE THE LINWOOD COUNCIL.
At the meeting of the Linwood Borough Council last night a letter was received fiom the Town Clerk of Christchurch, notifying that the holding of a Conference to consider. the matters affecting Greater Christchurch by representatives of the city and.odjacent boroughs would be held at the City Council offices at 8 o'clock this evenThe Mayor said that a loan had been raised for certain specific works, some ot which had been carried out, and the othera left undone. < Tlie idea had struck him that it might be well to expend the balance in tanks, etc., for fire prevention purposes. He thought they stood a better chance or having this work done within a reasonable time than if they relegated the matter to the Greater City, and he felt that if they negjlected that work now it might be some time before it became an accomplished fact. After some discussion the matter was left in abeyance.
A conference of delegates of the City Sounoil and the-boroughs interested re reater Christohurch will take place this evening.
