AVONSIDE PARISH FETE.

The Avonside parish fete was beld in the Church grounds on Saturday afternoon, and was largely attended, and very successful. Derry's Private Band was in attendance, and Mr H. J. Shaw's motor car was generously placed at the disposal of the many vLsi-tors. The atalls were as muter:—Produce: Mesdames Slater, W. D. Lawrence, and J. A. H. M&rciel, and Misses Slater, Godfrey, Denham, Cardalc, Hewer, Westenra, and" Saunders. Flower stall: Mrs Aiken and Che Misses Aiken, A. Aiken, Bunz, Stubbs, Strange, Horsley, and Griffin. Sweet and competition cake stall: Miss Wright and Mrs Ward. Work stall: Mesdames Scott, Outhbert, and Wright. Girls' Friendly Society stall: Miss Glasson. Refreshment stall: Mesdames. Bean,., Crichton, and Cox; 'helpers, Miss E. Crichton and Moss Stevenson. Uipsy tent: Mrs Rawnsley. Punch, and Judy show: Mr Townsend. Gramophone and weighing machine: Mr R. S. Ward.' blisses Crichton, Bassett, and Cox. Hat-trimming competition: Mrs Boulton. Doll stall: Mesdames Pascoe, Godfrey, Whitcombe, and -Haultain; helpers, Mrs Blow and the Misses Pringle, Home, and Wtiteombe. Various other attractions were also on the ground. The competition for the best-dressed dolls, of which Mesdames Dennistxm and Elworthy were the judges, resulted as under: —Over 14, long dresses: Mifls 141y Wright 1, Miss Violent Sherlock 2. Ordinary dress: Miss £. Crichton 1.. Fancy dress: Mies Lily Kent I, Miss Hilda Mountfott 2. Under 14—Long dresses: Miss F. Thome 1. Ordinary dress: Miss Lucy Boskruge 1. Fancy dress: M_b N. O'Connor. Scotch fisherwife: Miss Marjorde Glen 1, Miss Lorna Bean 2. The cake competition resulted as under:—Sponge sandwich, under 18: Kenneth Ambrose 1. Plain cake, over 18: Tdre Bridgeman 1, Miss Dingle 2. Fruit, cake: Mrs C. Ward 1, under 18: Miss Sapeford.
