SATURDAY'S MATCHES.

After a week's interval, in consequence of the match between Lord Hawke's team and Canterbury Cup, matches were continued in Cliristchurd- on Saturday, when the weather was fi.:_ and in most instances the wickets were, in favour *of tho batemen, the rain of Thursday night having left but, little impression. The third series of Wenior Cup matches was commenced, and in the Junior Competition., tho games started on January 31st were brought to a conclusion. Most interest in the Senior Competition was taken in the contest between the United «i_d Midland teams, and there was a good attendance at Hagley Park to witness tho play. The former went in first, and although they made a poor start, the tail end did so well, while th 3 Midland batsmen failed miserably, that at the call of time the Red ana Macks had a decided advantage. The ..cores were United 167, Midland 45 for fix wliekets. Although Lancaster Park hud some of their best men away, they gained a strong lead over Sydenham. Tho scores were Lancaster Park 243, Sydenham 75 for eight wickets. Midland and Sydenham gained easy wins in their Junior Cup matches, wh.le in the President's Cup comfetirtion Oiri-.t's College, by defeating lidlancl, practically made their chance of winning the tropny a certainty. Owing to pressure of advertisements, detailed repoits of the matches are held over.
