FITZGERALD'S CIRCUS.
After an absence of some time, the circus of Fitzsrerald Bros., wbici- has always been euccessful here, will open this evening a season of six nights and two matinees. The location chosen is in Manchester street, opposite Colter's Hotel, where tho section affords amplu room fcr the very large spread of canvas required for the jjerfonnance. Since the last visit of the circus to Christehurch several novelties have been added. Prominent amongst these is the sensation which is now the rage in F.ngland, and, cur.ou.ly enough, is performed by a Canterbury boy, Mr Jones. This is a cycle whizz, riddan on a track at an angle of 65 degree*, with eighty Japs to tho mile. It is performed by a quartette of riders known as the four Melbourne*. There will be a performance by six black Hururarian horses, which is spoken of as excellent, as also are the African w.-ir episode-., in which the trained horse St. Just takes part. The Tylers, in their clever Risley acts; tho Delavaies, in tlieir trick cycling feats; the Arab contortionist; Madame Amelia, the lady trapez:st; the Leon family and th? animal acts, under Herr Zaph, all"-20 to make up an attractive programme.
