MURDEROUS ATTEMPT AT PERTH. United _?Te_a __-K.ocia.ion—By"'Electrio Telegraph—Copyright. (Received February 14th, 10.47 a.m.) PERTH, February 14. iMr Lownee, a well-known business man at Yalgoo, received a parcel through the post, addreeseu apparently in a lady's handwriting, and closely packed. This circumstance led the postal officials to surmise that it contained gold, and it wae therefore surcharged by registration. Mr Lownes opened tho box in the poet office, and a terrific explosion of gelignite followed, blowing Mr Lownes's left hand and forearm to pieces, and severely burning the postal assistant. Mr Lownes exclaimed: "This ia the work] of my enemy. I knew it would come. He I threatened to do for me." '
