The Bank of England returns show the amount of gold coin and bullion to be £33,020,000,* the reserve £25,171,000, the proportion of reserve to liabilities 49.28 per cent. Notes in circulation £28,128,000. Publio deposits £11,240,000, other deposits £39,677,000. Government securities £15,062,000, other securities £28,984,000. Three months' bills are discounted at per cent. Consols, 92_. New South Wales 3J per cent*. 100, 3 per cents.. 92; New Zealand 4 per cents. 110, 3 per cents. 95. Other stocks are vnchanged. The European wheat markets are quiet and steady; the American market is de- , dining. Cargoes are firm. Californian, J prompt delivery, 32s 3d per quarter. Copper—On spot, £57 5s per ton; three months, £57 per ton. Tin—On spot, £133 15s per ton; three months, £134 5s per ton. Iron, 53s 3d per ton. Lead, £11 lis 3d per ton. j Sugar, first marks, 9s 4d per cwt; German, 8s per cwt. The Bradford wool market is better. Prices are unchanged. Butter is dull; Danish at 106s, and New Zealand 98s to 100s. Australian is nominally the same in price, but none is selling, New Zealand supplying all buyers requirements. Cheese is firm, but unchanged in price.
