The Avonside Parishi Fete will be held to-day, from 2.30 o'clock to 6 p.m., and 7.30 to 10 p.m. A meeting of the frieitde and supporters of Mr W. W. Oolllhe will meet at the Lyceum on Tuesday next, at 8 p.m., for the purpose pf making a presentation to him. The fourth of the eeriee of local wool sales will be foeld in the Canterbury Hall on Thursday, February 19th, at 9 a.m. The order of sale ie as follows: —1 Dainty and Co., Ltd., 2 J. T. Ford and Co., 3 Friediander Bros., Ltd-, 4 F. C. Tabart, 6 H. Matson and Co., 6 N.JS. Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., 7 National Mortgage and A. Co., 8 N.Jf. Farmers' Co-op. Association, 9 Pyne and Co. The catalogues close art 6 p.m. to-day. n A field trial of the Osborne Columbia reaper and binder will take place on the farm of Mr James Sproule, Ohoka, on Monday next, at 11 a.m. As will be seen by a notification elsewhere a numbex erf dairy farms in the R&ngitikei district will be offered for sale by auction at Marton on Thursday, March l&tih, at 2 p.m., at Mi !R. E. Beckett's salerooms. A meeting of tihe Fruitgrowers' Association wMI be held to-night at the Canterbury Hall, at eight o'clock. The election of a member of the Board of Governors in place of Mr Weston, resigned, will take place on Monday next. The candidates are Messrs J. C. Adams and H. G. Ell, M.H.R.
The carnival of the East Christohuroh Amateur Swimming Ohib will be held in the baths of the East Ghristchurch school this afternoon, commencing at 2.30 o'clock.
