An earthquake was felt here, and was reported from other parte of the territory. Daly Waters reports that the shock waa severe there. A MISSING BANK CLERK. PERTH, February 13. A clerk of the Bank of Australasia' left< Perth for Kalgoorhe, taking £2000 in notes for the branch there. He should have reached his destination on Wednesday, but therej ue no traces of him. THE PACIFIC CABLE. (Received February 14th, 1.10 a.m.) MELBOURNE, February 137 The postal authorities are unable to understand how the Pacific Cable Board estimates a loss a year in advance. BRISBANE, February 13. The steamer Mercedes, bound from the East to Westport, put in short of coal, owing to adverse weather. She sailed again to-day. MOUNT LYELL RETURNS. •MELBOURNE, February v. The Mount Lyell returns for the four weeks from January Bth to February 4th show that there were treated 22,958 tons, together with 3560 tons of purchased ore. The converters produced 456 tons blister copper, containing copper 451 tone, silver 45,0440z, and gold 16160z.
