The BntclitTe , Unioa xecently passed a motion accusing the Amalgamated Society of Carpenters and Joiners of making an attack upon the Arbitration Court./ The meeting at which the strictuivs regarding the Arbitration Court were made> was a mass meeting of ciirpcnter?, and tbe Society denies that it v* responsible as a body for what wa» said nnd done at tluiit> gathering. It has call*:l upon the Bi(bcher»' Union to withdraw the <'bj<H , t£or.(iD[o resolution and tender an apology. T3ie Amalgamated ■Society of Carpenters and Joiners has now filed documents, in which it alleges breaches of the .Arbitration Court award against two employers. He anticipated that his next visit to Lvvin would be on the occasion of a picnic, at which all the natives from miles around would meet their pakelra frieedis to celebrate the nationalisation of those lakes, "While at Levin yesterday it was urged on the Premier that the Kaiuru block of about 1500 acres close to Levin should . c acquired by -the Government from the- natives either by way of lease or purchase for close rettiexnent purpo*«>. X7ie Premier promised to give the matter his serious consideration. ■»' Cabinet has before it representations made to - by Mr C. Hall, M.H.R., in regard to the. Tamaki bloc!: of 35.000 acres, and the Piripiri block of 17,000 ucres. both in tho Da-nnevirke district. The blocks have been purchased by the Government from tne Maori.s subject to losses held by various eawmillen*. A good dt«al of the bush on .both properties has been cleared out. and Mr Hall is urging the Government 1o throw open for settlement at once the lund «o denuded oi timber.
