DRAINAGE BOARD.
The Ih-ainage Board met yesterday afternoon. Present—Messrs R. Pitcaithly (chairman), W. E. Samuels, J. Down, J. Staples, J. Forrester, C. PaJairet, G. H. Whatcom.be, C- Burgess, and T. H. Davey, M.H.R. An apology for absence was received from Mr G. M*clntyre. The report of the secretam and treasurer sdiowed that between January 10th and February 7th rates bad been received to the amount of £5638 15s Id, and £142 17s 2d from other sources. The expenditure was: --Rate account, £2407 8s Id; loan account, £327 8s lid; 1901 rates outstanding, £156 12s 3d; 1902, £6296 8s; 1902 rates collected, £14,77111s 9d; amount of debit balance, rate accounts. £3195 7s lid; credit balance of loan account, £2615 15s 7d. Four head of cattle had been bought at a cost of £17 15s, and 19 head sold for £113 7s. The report was adopted. The engineers report showed the working account «f the Sewage Fanu for tihe year ending December 31st, 1902, to be as under: —By sundry receipts, £15 6s; cattle sales, £735 18s 9d; value of cattile in hand on December 31et, £519 2s 6d; Jiorses ditto, £135; loss on year's working, £168 17s Id. Total, £1574" Aβ 4d. The report was adopted. The estimates for the ensuing year were placed before the Board, when members decided to follow the usual custom, and to discuss them at a special meeting to be held on February 24th, at 3.30 p.m. It was decided to grant £3 to the New Brighton Borough Council for the purpose of improving the condition of the old riverbed of the Avon near Bliglh'a Gardens.
