Windwhktlo was ctecd off, and a ding-dong finish between the other pair resulted in Deerstalker beating Quarryman by a head. Tho Bill of Portland colt, however, finished in a way that showed he is a game cue. Secret Society, ridden out, beat Tsaritea by a neck on the grass, the seven furlongs occupying Iniin 35sec. Ordnance wae restricted to easy pacing. Khaki cantered and sprinted five furlong*, the last four occupying SSisec. Olanburn wae much too good for Narcissus at the end of seven furlongs oil the grass in Imin SSaee. Olanburn finished up well, and should play a prominent part at the forthcoming meeting. King Stork, ■Stepdaneer, and The Mohican finished together at the end of five furlongs on the plough. Roacominon was too good for Merrymaker and Antigone at the end of sir furlong 011 die grass in Imin 19Jeeo. Pallaa. accomplished seven furlongs on tho grass by himself in Imin 33eec, and from, the way in which he finished it looked as if he were capable of doing better. Barbette, having tho lighter weight, appeared to be too good for Nell Gwvnne at tho end of five furlonge on the grass in Imin 7sec. Leonore and Cerise and Blue were together at the end of cix furlongs on the plough, run in Imin- 20eec. Oaiibre and Muscovite jumped off together at the mile on the plough, but Muscovite wae pulled off. and Calibre finished by himeelf in Imin 49Jsec. First Shot ran seven furlongs by himself r.t a sound pace. Tho gallop of taie morning was then performed by Lady Lillian on the grass. She jumped off at the mile and a quarter, and was assisted in the first pert of the journey by Ropu; Welbeck joined in, at the sevea furlonge, and tho pair ran on together, Ropu dropping back outpaced. In the straight Lady LiHian had Weibeok beaten, and finished over a dozen lengths in front.. The full time for the journey wee 2min llieec, tho mile in Imin 45Jsec, and the last six furlonge in Imin 19sec. Tho mare had racing plates oa, and finished remarkably well. Tho gallop wae evidently intended as a final serioue pipeopener for iihe* Midsummer Cup, in wthaoh she is certain to run forward. Waimara's task wae half a mile fast on the plough. ArdnaifF, who arrived last night ftfoni Dunedin, and looka very, well, went once Pound on tie plough. Tunning t(he last half-mile in 53sec. Ayraalo, by himsoif, ran seven furlonga on the grass in Imin 34soc. Goldenmere and a number of oUhera performed useful taeke. After breakfast Rosiphele ran six furlonge on the plough, and ia picking up a bit. Go'.denmere easily accounted for Ardchattan over hajf a mile, accomplished in uljsecs. Regulation, greatly pleased by the way in which «he got over seven , furlongs on the Brass in Imin 32j8e0. Cyclae Parva, Bayonet, Lucretia, n>nd a number of others performed moderate work.
