Mr Evans, vicar of St. Miohael'e, Shoreditch, has resigned, as he declined to Bishop of London. His Sunday school teachers took one-half of the children to a Roman Catholic church, the parents not being consulted. Archbishop Veughan authorised the use of special English hymns.
