(Received February 11th, 12.59 a.m.) SY'DNllii*. February 10. (Mr Barton, referring to the cablegram reporting Mr Wise's speech at the Eighty Olub'e banquet,' said he attached no importance to it. It was ridiculous to suppose that any after-dinner utterance could be held to bind the Commonwealth Government. In a speech at the Eighty Club's banquet, air B. R. Wise, Attorney-General of New South Wake, sarid he regretted that Lord Lansdowne, contrary to the spirit, of a resolution of the Premiers' Conference, failed to ascertain the views of Australia and Canada before making an engagement with Germany regarding Venezuela. Australia was much affected by German development in the Pacific.
