MEETING OF HAWKE'S BAY TEACHERS.
(PRESS ASSOCIATION' TELEGRAV.) NAPIER. February 8. A ■well-attended meeting of teachers was held here on Saturday to consider tb? question of manual and technical instruction in the public schoo>. After c°nsiderabie discw*uon tlia following resolutione were carried unanimously: —(a) That the teachers here assembled, while deeirous of introducing the manual and technical Kubjects into the echooL*, nre satisfied that it is impossible to carry out the requirements of the Manuil and Technical In«tructioa Acta without a considerable modification of the present standard syllabus, (b> That in order to enable teachers to carry on technical work, the inspector for the district b-?. given definite power by the Department, to accept technical -work in lieu of class or additional subjects occupying an equivalent time, (c) Thai copies of these resolutions be forwarded to the Education Department, the Education Board, and tli-a Pre«» Association.
