The secretary of tbe Greenstone Creek Company rfceived a telegram from the dredgemarter on Friday, stating that ho hud pot' the psddock cleaned out on Wednesday. There will be no wash up till this week. The Al Company's dreuge has, sinc<y the registration of the Compacy in November, IS9O. to the end of last y«*r, obUiEed 18'Gcz of gold, valued »t X 7421 7s lOd, and dividends amounting to £1275 lave paid. At the end of tho year tho company had £130 183 at ite credit at tho Bank. Since starting operations till the end of hust year the Hokitika. River Company's dredge obtained lOTloz ls3wt 3gr. valued a* £1060 15a Bd. The total expenditure of the company since registration -wr.a £14,806 10» 21. and at the end of year the tota". indebtedness was £315 13s. The master of the Le-viathan Company s dredge, reporting on the 2nd met.. stated that thero wae about 6ft of gravel of a poor quality risht on the western, corner, and no is -srtill running out westward into heavier bush. He is surrendering portion of the title to Ililton road, aa it ifl va.uoless. The dredge is running almost to perfection. The Trafalgar Company's dredge resumed operations on February Ist. The Watterson's-Ahaura. Company s drtdpe finished cleaning out the silt in the paddock on January 29th. The ground at the east corner was fully 30ft deep for half a caain. and there was also a deep gutter oloeo to the west corner-.

Tho Aldirg-a Company's dredge- had a very steady run for the week endinc: Jentrary -list. all the machinery working well. Half ol the faco consisted of worked grciiijd. but the remainder was smTid. The wash on the ii-orth-east side of the face dipped, sway to 24£t, and showed fair prospects of fine gold. A pocd deal of timber was met with in the worked portion of tho face. The ground viuifd in depth from 21ft on the solid side io Bft on tho extreme end of tho pr.rt that had been worked. Thn dredgrn:n«t?r expected to, be clear of the old ground in about iv fortnight. Tbe ground on whioh the Three-mile Grconetcno Company's dredge ires working during the week ending January 31st was very tight, and the return was somewhat affected owing to a Jarpe quantity of tailings being treated. There was still some old ground in' the face, but the dredgemaster expected it to run out at acy time, after which improved returne are looked for. The ground wns from lift to 2lft deep, and the bottom was rcry uneven, -while the wa&h -was very hard in places. The return from the Victory Company's dredge for tho week ending Jaapary 31st waa obtained from tho east side of the cut, but tho dredgemaeter hae now left that side as he does not consider it payable. The next return will lie from the centre of the . cut, which part lias not yet been tried by tbo dredge. The cecretaiy leccived a telegram from the dredgeuvaater on Friday wtatinj; that tho repairs were finished on Thursday night ■
