A FAVOURABLE REPORT.

SPEEDY RECOVERY ANTICIPATED. (Received February sth, 10.49 p.m.) LONDON, February 5. The King is making splendid progress. Sir Francis Laking, Physician-in-Ordinary to the King, reports that the period in which any complication was likely is already past. Hβ anticipates an early convalescence. •The medical newspaper "The Lancet" is authorised to state that the King for a week past had not been feeling in his usual health. He complained on Friday of a more sensitive cold than usual. The attack of influenza, however, was slight, and his Majesty was not confined to bed, but only to his room. The thoughtful message sent by the King and the Queen, expressing their regrets to the authorities and people of Derbyshire at being unable to pay a visit to Chatsworth, has been warmly appreciated.
