(BX OtJB COHMERCIAL EDITOK.) There was a fairly large entry of etock and a good attendance. In the store cheep pens there was an entry of 10,160, Jambs and webhers forming tlie largest proportion. There was a considerable failing off in the demand for lambs, «nd prices showed a. decline. Forward wethers were enquired for, but buyera Mere not inclined to pay late ratce. There wire two lines of wethers from the Chatham Islands, which showed much improvement in quality over previous consignments, and they made 14s 8d and 15s Id. Good bred , ■ i ing ewes sold fairly well, but fully one halt of the whole entry of sheep wae passed at auction. The following were the chiei ■enles:—477 wethers 16s Id, 195 at 14s Bd, 106 at 14s 3d, 402 at 15s sd, 90 ewes (mixe i ages) 16e, 103 at 12s 10d, 100 two-tootba 13e 7d, 128 lambs 10s 7d, 270 at 10s, 245 at 9s Bd, 300 at 9s 6d, 247 at 9s 3d, 422 at 9s, 170 at 7s. There was an entry of 1150 fat lambs, a. very large proportion of which wet* unfinished sorts. Prime freezers sold well up to late rates, 'bub others -were easier, and a number of lines were bought by grazier* for finishing off. The butchers were able to secure supplies at prices ranging from 10s to 12s, and freezers made 12e 6d to 14s Bd, and two email lota reached 15s. The chief sales were: —For Mr A. Anderson, een., Leeston, 30 at 15s; Mr W. Parkin, Leeston, 11 at 15e; Mr 6. Harris, Styx. 42 at 14s 8d; Mr j: H. Parkinson, Kai tuna, 150 at 13s 6d to 14a 6d; Mr J. Brown, Duneandel, 29 at 14e 6d; Mr M. Peat, 40 at 14a 6d; Air J. Stubbs. Rakam., 82 at 14e 3d; Mr W. Brice, Woodend. 75 at. 14s 3d; Messrs Shaw Broe., Rotleetoii,. 71 ac 14s Id: Mr J. Curragh, 38 at 13s lid: Mr T. H. James, 80 at 13s 10d; Meeere Manning and Euseell, Rakaia. Island, 276 at 13s 5d to 13s 9d; Mr F. W. X. Lukey, Waikari. 74 at 12s 9d to 13s; Mr J. T. Wright, Dunsandel, 140 at 12s IOd; Mr W. A. Gray, Kaituna., 150 at 12s Bd. The yarding of fat cheep was a meduuxt ooe in point of numbers, but the quality showed an improvement on late sales. There was more briskness in the bidding, and a, recovery in prices, especially for ewes, which showed a distinct advance on the rates ruling recently. Heavy-weight w«tbers sold up to 19e 10d,-freezing wethers 16s to 19e 7d, maiden ew*»' 16s to 17s 7d, best butchers' ewes 16s to 19s, medium 12s 6d to 15s 6d, a-nd others 10s 3d to 12s. The principal saies were:—For Mr J. Brown, Duneandel, 36 wethers 18s 8d to 19s 10d ; Lady Campbell, Cheviot, 20 wethers 19s 7d, 59ewes 16e 3d to 16s lid; Mr D. Cameron, Springfield, webbere to 19s 6d, ewes 14a 8d to 17s 6d; Levels Estate, 58 ewes 15s 9d ■o 19s; Mr J. Sharp, Lincoln, 107 wethers LBa to 18s lid j Sir Geo. Clifford, Stonylurst, 120 ewee 16s to 18s 10d; Kain'e HiU Estate, 63 wethera 18s 3d to 18s Bd, 40 naiden ewee 17s 7d, 24 ewes 14s 3d; Messrs Girdling Bros., Halewell, 60 -wethers 18s )d, 33 maiden ewes 15s; Mr R.
