NEW ZEALAND TROTTING ASSOCIATION.
A meeting of the Xew Zealand Trotting Association was held last evening. Present— Mersr s P. Selip (prcsitfc.nl), E. ClaTkson, V> McLean, C. E. Calcutt, G. King, W. G Garrajd, A. L. Myers, C. S. Howcll, and th< Hon. H. F. Gourley. Letters were rend from Messrs F. C. Jaggar and L. Wilson, two formor stewards o! the >'ew Brighton. Trotting Club, explaining tho rcapoKe ior their non-flt tendance at the Association's meetings in, connection with tho Mambrino Abdullah—Ricketty appeal case. Mr Wilson forwarded copies of letters writteu by him 1o the President of the Xew Brighton Club, showing the position, ho had taken in connection with the case. In one of these he stated that when Mr Jaggaar end himsfflf heard tho evidence read over the morning after the protest had been dealt with, they considered that it altered the aspect of things. The answers to eoroo questions ho had put did not appear. After discussion, it was decide to summon Messrs J3ggar. Wilsm, and Rattray (secretary of tho Xew Brighton Trotting Club) to appear before the next meeting of tho Association, end in the meantime to forward a copy of Mr Wilson's letter regarding the evidence to Mr Rattray, and ask him for an explanation. Mr C. F. MaTk, in reply to the inquiry as to Hie Tirl-e under which he had consented to an investment having been made on a winner after the race bad been decided, stated that he was not'aware of any gtich rule. However, ns the tota.lisii.tor official had rxgleri«rt to send an irDmt<lia.tc reply, to the effect that tbo investment on the firs* race was too late, to punish that neglect sirud cause greater caTO !o be exercised in future, he had instrurted the official that be declined to nttempt any explanation to the investor, and tha.t. the totalisator investment must be treated β-s having been made, and tho dividend returned accordingly. The President esplnir.«d that the statement' had been made in consequence of o- complaint by a Nelson investor, which hVI been before the Association previously, and it was decided to aend a copy of Mr Mark's letUr to him. An, application from the Waifoao Sports Committee for the removal of the disqualification imposed on horses taking part at the meeting , on December 16th was acceded to. Tho Greymonth Trotting C!ub wrote regretting that the Association's warning regarding the issuing of licenses to person* in other districts had been overlooked. Tho letter was received. The secretary of the Otehuhu Trotting Clv wrote that the stewards of the club, aft< considering the fresh evidence in. t'ho Ct>r v ictor-rK.O. appeal case, could not see anj thing to catue them to alter tbeix pieviou deoision. They could not prove anythin fraudulent against the otro«r and driver c Oora. Victor, otherwise he would have- bco d:squalified also, On the motion of Mr Calcutt, seconded b Air King, it was decided the-t in the opinio of the AssociaEon, on the evidence befor it the stewards of tho club were not waj ranted in depriving: Cora. Victor of tho et»kt won in the Trial Trot Handicap, and tha the appeal be upheld. Mr T. That finding w*s endowed, and in recard to the other ground of disqualification, it was decided to write to th* Wairio Jockey Club aeking whether the statement was correct that ' the owner ot Ringwcod had been informed that he would receive fche stake on the production of Um> nder's license. ' Several programmes were naeaed. In regard to the appli,»tion of the* EHeemere Racing and Athletic Club, for a me*tins on April 2nd, it wa 9 decided to obtain further information as to the constitution of the club.
