AX HUSH JUDGE'S DICTUMUnited Prees Association— By Electric Telegraph—Copyright. (Received February sth, 12.28 a.m.) LONDON, February 4. In the course of an action for damages for boycotting at Sligo, one of the defendants, the father of Mr SpeUman, President of the league branch, did not appear, alleging that plaintiffs solicitor, in opening the case, sneered at the priesthood. Judge Morris declared that tiis was shuffling and reprehensible. The priest was amenable to the law, and was not entitled to plead his sacred office, particularly when the heads of the church everywhere condemned boycotting. He gave judgment, for the full claim, and regretted his inability to make the amount five times greater.
